Home Insurance Policy FAQ
General
Why am I being offered a replacement home insurance policy?
This policy offers additional coverage options to meet your current and future insurance needs.
Is my auto insurance coverage affected by this change to my home policy?
No. Your auto insurance coverage is not affected by this change.
Why can’t I keep my old policy?
We are no longer offering that policy in your state.
Coverages
Will my current home insurance coverage options change?
We’ve made some coverage modifications to your replacement policy to more closely match what you had on your previous policy. For example, we’ve added 25% extended replacement cost coverage as an endorsement to more closely match the Coverage A percentage on your previous policy. Please review your insurance packet for details. If you have further questions, please contact us.
Did my dwelling coverage change? (Homeowners policies only)
As part of the transition, we recalculated the estimated replacement cost of your home and included it in the replacement policy offer. This calculation includes inflationary factors, so it’s possible that your dwelling coverage increased. Please see your declarations page for details.
What is replacement cost?
With replacement cost coverage, covered losses are paid at the amount required to repair or replace the damaged or destroyed property without deducting for depreciation.
What is actual cash value?
With coverage at actual cash value, covered losses are paid at the value of the property at the time of the loss, after depreciation.

Why did my premium change?
While our goal is to offer you a policy that is as similar to your previous policy as possible, there are enough differences that your premium needed to change. Other factors, such as updated home value and claims history, may have also played a role in your premium change.
Will I still get a discount on my auto insurance policy for having both auto and home bundled (multi-policy discount)?
If you currently have a bundling discount with Progressive, you will continue to receive one. State variations may apply.
Why do I have a separate wind/hail deductible?
Like many companies, we’ve seen an increase in wind and hail claims and expect that to continue. To help keep premiums low, you may have a wind hail deductible that’s separate from your policy deductible.
You can select a deductible that’s equal to or greater than your policy deductible. A higher deductible would lower your premium. Please call us if you’d like to discuss your deductible options.
